31 DAYS OF COFFEE MUGS (2020): Alexa, Make Me Coffee Mug

Alexa Make Me Coffee Mug

For those attached to Alexa, I am pleased to have discovered for the eighth day of my 31 day mug series this fun "Alexa Make Me Coffee" mug by Brooke and Jess Designs. It is a ceramic mug designed to look like an enameled tin camping mug with, of course, the textual reference to Amazon's Alexa.

Alexa, for those who don't know, is Amazon's virtual assistant that interacts with users by interpreting voice commands for playing music, making lists, setting alarms, streaming podcasts, playing audiobooks, providing the news, the weather and so on.

This Alexa mug is ceramic and it is both dishwasher and microwave safe. It measures 5 inches by 5 inches by 6 inches, holds 14 ounces of your favorite hot and steamy beverage and it is readily available from Amazon by clicking right here.

Order this mug for someone you know but be warned. Alexa still won't get your coffee.

I love how the coffee mug you use can reflect your personality, your mood, your interests!

31 DAYS OF COFFEE MUGS: The Golden Girls (2020)

I remember my mother watching the award winning television series The Golden Girls in the 1980s and I know I watched it sometime after that, too.

The show ran for a total of seven seasons and offered up a whopping 180 episodes. An amazing 27.2 million people tuned in to the series finale in 1992.

It starred four legendary actresses: Beatrice Arthur, Betty White, Rue McClanahan and Estelle Getty, all of whom are gone now except for Betty White, who is 98 years old as I write this in 2020.

The premise of the show was four senior citizen roommates who managed one way or another to live in the same house and stay friends.

The series has had incredible staying power. All these years later, it is still widely beloved. It is popular with older folk who may or may not have watched it originally as well as with younger folk who were not even born when it first aired. The Queen Mum loved it and Sir Laurence Olivier did, too.

The BBC calls it the most treasured show ever saying it is the "ultimate pop culture goodie: more naughty-but-nice" and describing the characters as 'fiercely funny, unashamedly soppy, brazenly glamorous (1980s style) and bravely outspoken.'

If you or someone in your life loves The Golden Girls, they will love this fun coffee mug that features a drawn illustration of The Golden Girls on one side and the text 'Stay Golden' on the other.  I am featuring it here as the second mug in my 2020 series, 31 Days of Coffee Mugs. Find your Golden Girls coffee mug on Amazon by clicking right here. Be warned, it is a big one at 20 ounces, perfect for holding a large cup of coffee or tea!

Stay tuned! You never know what
I might have in store for you!

Fixer Upper's Chip & Joanna Gaines Play The Newlywed Game

I am not a designer, my house is far too busy operating as an eBay store to be artfully arranged. However, that does not stop my husband and I from watching and thoroughly enjoying television programs like HGTV's Fixer Upper.

As a matter of fact, we are like so many others eager to know more about Chip and Joanna Gaines who are entertaining to watch but also very talented at what they do in this popular television program.

I smiled then when I discovered this video in which the talented duo play The Newlywed Game.

I am not sure that my memory would serve as well were my husband and I to sit down and play this version of the Newlywed game though I think it would be a fun game to play at a family or friends gathering.

Did you know Chip and Joanna are releasing a book that tells their story? Interestingly, when The Magnolia Story appeared on Amazon it instantly zoomed to the top of Amazon's best seller list. It is meant to share answers to the questions that fans want to know like: "Who are these people? What’s the secret to their success? And is Chip actually that funny in real life?" It'd be a great gift for anyone who enjoys the series and who is interested in the couple's story. It's on my wish list.

Are you one of the myriad of people who enjoy Chip & Joanna Gaines work on Fixer Upper?

Doctor Who Target Books

The Target Book: A History of the Target Doctor Who Books
I've been busy listing the first of a number of Doctor Who book sets in my eBay store. It is going to be a long process and I am trying to commit to listing six books a day. Wish me luck!

UPDATED TO SAY: ALL OF THE BOOKS IN THIS SERIES HAVE BEEN SOLD.

This huge collection belonged in a sense to my son because they were purchased for him.  However, he never had the opportunity to read them and now he is moving to Seattle and leaving them behind to be sold on eBay...

The first set that I am listing is the Target Books paperback series, which was published between the years of 1973 and 1991. I read that Target started with new releases of the books by Frederick Muller and that the last three books were released by Virgin books after they took over Target.  Those last three titles were The Power of the Daleks and The Evil of the Daleks by John Peel and The Paradise of Death by Barry Letts.

I'm learning a bit as I work my way through these books.  If you have already read them, you no doubt know more about the history of them than I do and probably remember them fondly from years gone by.

I had the opportunity to meet a customer who purchased three books from me shortly after I started on this Doctor Who adventure. He was thrilled to find the titles that he needed to complete his collection.  He purchased The Rescue by Ian Marter and The Planet of Giants and The Wheel in Space by Terrance Dicks, his collection is now complete and my collection no longer has those titles available. It was really rewarding to see his appreciation for the books.

All of the books that I have listed so far have been in pretty good condition with yellowing as befits older paperback books and a small irregularity at the top of the spine, which was caused by the removal of a small sticker. I expect the rest of the books in this collection to be in the same condition.

If you are missing a title or two, be sure to visit eBay to complete your collection. See all of the vintage Doctor Who books on eBay by clicking right here.

By chance, I stumbled across The Target Book: A History of the Target Doctor Who Books by David J. Howe on Amazon.  I would love to have a chance to look at it but it appears to be a very hard-to-find book, which translates directly into it being very expensive on Amazon.

31 DAYS OF COFFEE MUGS: Downton Abbey Tea Cups

Third in my series of THE 31 DAYS OF COFFEE MUGS is a set of teacups. Downton Abbey teacups, that is.  I hope you will forgive me that they are teacups. I assure you your coffee will taste perfectly fine in them.

It seemed only fitting to choose this subject matter given the fact that Season 5 of Downton Abbey arrives in North America in just two days time. I know that I am not the only one anxious for the return of our favourite characters although I will confess to already knowing how disappointed we are going to feel after each episode is over...

Back to the mugs.  These handsome mugs were produced by World Market for Downton Abbey. There are three cups in the set, which are available individually or as a group.

One mug has a quotation from the Dowager Countess of Grantham that reads, "What is a weekend?" a line that will go on to immortalize the Dowager Countess and the amazing Dame Maggie Smith. A second mug features the words Downton Abbey and shows the crown and the third has the initials DA for Downton Abbey. They are all beautiful but if I had to guess the most popular one, I'd go with the weekend reference. It would definitely be my first choice.

In case you are wondering where you can buy these mugs, you can find them, singly or as a group on eBay by clicking right here.

Keep calm and
Downton on!
Brenda
