Awesome Things You Will Only See in Canada

Awesome Things You Will Only See in Canada

In 2017, this page shared a video called 21 Insanely Awesome Things About Canada. I believe that there are WAY MORE than 21 insanely awesome things about Canada but I still enjoyed this video list put together by Talltanic. However, the original video is no longer available. Instead Talltanic offers you this video called Things you Will Only See in Canada. If you are Canadian, you will likely know some of these facts but I bet there are some that you do not know, too.

I won't spoil the video for you but I bet that you have heard of many of the items wherever you call home.

If you have heard of the soap flavored gum, I need to hear from you because that is something I definitely have missed.

Here's the video of Things You Will Only See in Canada. It is about eight minutes long and includes some interesting facts about Canada. Ice truck, anyone?

Did you learn anything new about Canada and Canadians?

31 DAYS OF COFFEE MUGS: Classic Movie Mug

31 DAYS OF COFFEE MUGS: Unemployed Philosopher's Guild Classic Movie Mug

With the announcement yesterday of the 2015 Academy Award nominations, I thought an Academy Award or Oscar themed coffee mug would be a good choice for day 16 in my series, the 31 DAYS OF COFFEE MUGS. Alas, I came up empty handed.

I searched then for a movie themed mug and came up with this classic movie quotes mug by The Unemployed Philosophers Guild, which I think is an appropriate choice for all of us who are caught up in the world of the movies, especially during Oscar season.

The mug contains more than 24 quotes.  I'll not name them all because that would ruin the fun but a few of the quotes that meant something to me are:

Toto, I've got a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore.
Hasta la vista, baby.
You're gonna need a bigger boat.
Fasten your seatbelts. It's going to be a bumpy ride.
You talkin' to me?

Can you name the movies that these quotes are from? If you love movies, I am going to bet that you can and that's just a bit of the fun your gift recipient will have when he opens this mug and tries to identify the movies that all of the quotes are from.  Conveniently, the answers can all be found on the bottom of the mug though you will want to be careful checking them when your mug is full. (More about how to use your mug tomorrow.)

This is an absolutely perfect mug for those who love trivia and who are obsessed with the movies. Does that sound like anyone you know?

Unfortunately, this mug is now retired. To see all of the other fun Unemployed Philosopher's Guild mugs available on Amazon click here. Alternatively, you can look for this one on eBay by clicking right here.

Gourmet Challenge Trivia Board Game

Gourmet Challenge Trivia Board Game

According to the box, Gourmet Challenge is an "exciting board game, a true test of fine foods, fine wines, social etiquette and lifestyles." It's an adult game, recommended for individuals 18 years of age and older who have or would like to have a good culinary knowledge base.

Gourmet Challenge is a vintage 1984 game so it is old enough to be difficult to find but not old enough yet to be considered antique.

SAMPLE QUESTIONS

A few sample questions:

From the Histories & Nationalities category is "Is beer made in Indonesia?"

From the Gourmet's Delight category, "What French chef of King Louis Philippe was credited with inventing Pommes Soufflees?"

From the Wine & Beverages category, "What year was an excellent one for red Rioja: 1971, 1972 or 1978?"

WHERE TO FIND IT?

If you are looking for a copy of Gourmet Challenge, you can try on eBay by clicking here. They tend to come and go so you may have to check back from time to time.
