Lego DUPLO Garbage Truck Set 10519

Lego DUPLO Garbage Truck Set 10519

For Toy Tuesday, here’s the retired 2014 Lego DUPLO Garbage Truck set for your child to use to haul the recycling away. It includes the truck with a simple tipping function, the garbage man mini-figure and even a dog that loves to chase the garbage truck down the street. Yes, your child can load up the recycling bin and then empty it into the truck.

What is it about little boys and garbage trucks? Some are fascinated by the truck and its processes and watch every week for the arrival of the truck. My boys did and they loved Lego's DUPLO, too, so they would have loved this set.

Duplo sets are meant for younger children, generally aged 2 to 5. This one is set number 10519 and was released in 2014. Unfortunately, it appears to have had a limited run, which makes it somewhat hard to find and quite expensive in the resale market. Be aware if you are buying it, that it contains just 16 pieces though what fun those pieces are! They would be a great add on to an existing DUPLO collection.

How To Clean Your Gremlin Gizmo Plush Toy Pillow

How To Clean Your Gremlin Gizmo Plush Toy PillowI'm not sure why the Gremlins Gizmo or "Giz" as he is sometimes called is eternally popular but he is. I guess it might be because he's furry and cute, he's not wicked and he's quite smart being very talented with electrical devices and weaponry. Of course, that makes sense because a "gizmo" is actually another word for a gadget...

Anyway, I digress. This page wasn't meant to be a biography of Gizmo but rather a helpful page about how to wash your giant stuffed plush Gizmo.  He's pretty big, measuring about 20 inches across, which adds another complication when you're trying to figure out how to clean him.

Those who own this Gizmo, love him a lot, which means he is often in desperate need of being cleaned. Mine was actually in very good condition and clean but I washed him anyway since I like knowing that all of the plush toys in my home and in my eBay store are clean and fresh.

Anyway, a friendly query arrived in my email last month from Amanda in the United Kingdom. She called her question cheeky but I did not really consider it so. Besides, I am always happy to answer any friendly cheeky question!

Amanda said that she has a Gizmo pillow desperately in need of a cleaning so I shared my experience with her of how I cleaned my Gizmo. My answer is shown below but please don't take it as a guarantee. It is what I did with my Gizmo and what I have done with countless other plush toys but of course there is no telling what might happen when you wash yours...

If Gizmo will fit in your washing machine, you should be able to wash him in there.  I washed my Gizmo in my slightly-oversized washer with hot water. Choose a gentle cycle, if you can, though I cannot remember if that is what I did and throw something in like a towel or two to counter the weight. If Gizmo doesn't fit in your machine, I would take him to a laundromat (a coin-operated laundry facility) where they usually have an oversized washer.

I air dried him in my dryer which has actually has a setting called 'air' that is perfect for stuffed animals when you don't know how their fur will react to the heat of a dryer.  I actually may have dried him with heat because I often forget to use the air cycle, though I cannot really remember. I do know that some plush fur, particularly long, fluffy fur, like that around Gizmo's eye sometimes cannot tolerate the heat of a dryer so I recommend using an air cycle if you can.

If you're washing your Gizmo, I wish you luck! If you're interested in buying a plush Gremlin Gizmo pillow on eBay, just click here.

Remember Digger the Dog, Digging He Goes With You...

Digger the Dog
Meet Digger the Dog, a toddler play toy by Playskool. He’s the hard-to-find yellow version of the dog featuring large floppy fabric ears and a red deerstalker detective hat.

Young children are immediately drawn to Digger. They simply pull the string and off they go with him.

Digger quickly becomes a beloved toy and will help your young child work on his balance and coordination skills.

At first your child will start by walking straight with Digger but as his walking skills improve, he will have fun taking Digger in circles, forward and backward and even sending him off on his own.  He will enjoy taking Digger for walks inside and outside, too.

Watch as Digger the Dog takes me for a walk!

Of course, Digger really did TAKE me on a walk but I could have controlled him a bit more and we would have gone at a leisurely pace.

You might remember Digger's song from the original television commercial, “Digger the dog, digging he goes with you when you explore, just pull his leash and go for a walk, he's your dog for sure!" Watch the video for yourself but be aware that you might wind up with the tune stuck in your head!

Digger is fun pull toy, an interesting dog sporting a detective look.  Do YOU remember Digger?  Find Digger, in assorted styles new, used and vintage, on eBay by clicking here.

Thanks for visiting & be sure to come back because you never know what new treasures I might have in store for you!

My New I Phone (2011)

My New I Phone (2011)I was dragged kicking and screaming into the world of the electronic gadget. Until Christmas 2011, I was happy to own a $10 pay-as-you-go cellphone. It allowed my family to reach me in case of an emergency and was hardly ever used.

On Christmas morning in 2012, I opened the last package under the tree. What I saw made my jaw hit my chest and rendered me speechless for a solid 10 minutes. When I started to speak, I would really call it more of a sputter.

I am sure you have guessed what was in that package. Yes, that's right, it was a shiny new Apple iPhone, a gadget that I once mentioned aloud to my husband had business applications for my eBay store, Treasures By Brenda and a pretty pink Otter case, as shown here.

As they say, the rest is history. My phone is used constantly for everything but talking. I even read Kindle e-books on it. As recently as yesterday my husband, who of course was the Santa who gifted me with my phone, was heard saying, "What did you do before that phone?"

Enjoy!
