31 DAYS OF COFFEE MUGS: Marsala Red Color of the Year (2015) Coffee Mugs

According to the color experts at the Pantone Color Institute, the color of the year for 2015 is marsala.

Marsala is a reddish-brown colour that Pantone calls “a smooth, rich, earthy wine tone” inspired by the a city called Marsala in Sicily, Italy.

I think that adding accents of marsala would be a great way to add a bit of this fashionable, warm colour to your home décor without adding too much of a strong colour.

Here's a peek at the sample from Pantone. Marsala is colour number 18-1438.

Panatone says, "Nurturing and fulfilling, Marsala is a natural fit for the kitchen and dining room – making it ideal for tabletop, small appliances and linens throughout the home."  I like it though I realize it is not for everyone.  It is exactly the hit of red that I might choose to add if I were redecorating my family room or kitchen.

Today's post, number 27 in my 31 DAYS OF COFFEE MUGS, is therefore dedicated to a few lovely marsala-colored coffee mugs. Because I do not actually own all of these mugs, I am relying on the color representation delivered to me online. I hope that these colors are true in real life. Please let me know if you experience anything otherwise.

At the top of this page, I've shared a pair of Starbucks' Stacking coffee mugs. Starbucks calls the color mulberry but I think that it is a fine stand in as a marsala-colored mug. It is a 2013 mug that is now discontinued. You will likely be able to find them here on eBay.

Pfaltzgraff's Everyday Calico Mug, with a checkered  shown above, is of varied colors, including a reddish brown marsala. Now apparently discontinued, you can turn to eBay to find it by clicking right here.

Then there is Burton & Burton's inspirational Marsala Dad themed mug. It's a handsome choice, perfect for Father's Day and dad's birthday. You can find it on Amazon here.

31 DAYS OF COFFEE MUGS: Super Hero Dad Mugs

Super Hero Fans Will Love These Batman and Superman Coffee Mugs For Dad 

The year 2012 was a big year for super hero movies with three blockbusters released.  They included the Avengers, Batman Rises and the Amazing Spider-Man, all of which were hotly anticipated summer movies.

It was perfect then, that Hallmark released a series of super hero themed coffee mugs. They did not necessarily mirror the super hero movies that were released that year but they were a nice group of coffee mugs aimed at the dads in our lives.



There were five mugs in the collection. They read,

"Dad: Man, Myth, Legend."
"To the Man Cave!"
"Super Dad."
"Dad: Not All Heroes Wear Capes."

The final mug was also available for Grandpa and read, "Grandpa: Not All Heroes Wear Capes."



If you both love superheroes and/or your dad is one, you might like to add one of these mugs to his collection.  It is going to take a bit more effort to find one now that they are out of production but that does not mean that they are impossible to find.  You can find them, not necessarily all of them at any one time, on eBay by clicking right here.

I think that they are a fun and practical gift for dad on Father's Day or, of course, on any day of the year.
