31 DAYS OF COFFEE MUGS: Keep Calm And Carry On Coffee Mugs (And Story)

Keep Calm and Carry On was originally a slogan on a World War II poster. It was actually one of three posters with the design of this one meant to be used only if the war got so bad that the general population needed to be told to "Keep Calm and Carry On."

Apparently, the poster was never displayed and most of the 2.5 million created were destroyed. As a matter of fact, there are only two known copies of the original poster in existence.

One of those copies is owned by a secondhand bookstore named Barter Books in Britain. The store is located in an old railway station where the owners discovered the famous wartime poster with the slogan, Keep Calm and Carry On.

Upon requests from customers, they created a few and steadily more and more reproductions of the poster until eventually the Keep Calm craze spread and, of course, other companies jumped on the bandwagon.

Now there is a legal battle underway in Britain as one of those companies tries to prevent others from using the slogan. It's actually an interesting story, but I digress...

As you likely know, the expression Keep Calm And Carry On and many alternate versions of it went viral and now it appears on everything from posters to, well, coffee mugs. This page is, therefore, not devoted to the controversy swirling around this slogan but rather to the very attractive coffee mugs that bear the words Keep Calm and Carry On.

Keep Calm and Downton On is perfectly appropriate for all of us who have been totally enthralled by the goings on of Downton Abbey in England starting in the early 1900s. Of course, keeping calm when the series airs the final episode this winter might prove hard. It is retired but you can find it here on eBay.

KEEP CALM AND DRINK COFFEE

Because of the British history of the Keep Calm and Carry On slogan, the Keep Calm and Drink Coffee slogan makes me smile because of the coffee - not British tea - reference! You will find a selection of Keep Calm and Drink coffee mugs here on eBay. 

KEEP CALM I'M THE DOCTOR

A Keep Calm I'm The Doctor mug ought to be appreciated by anyone who loves Doctor Who. It would be twice as fun for someone who actually is a doctor! It is retired but you can find several variations on the Doctor Who theme by clicking here to eBay.
