Okay, I will admit it. I did not get the reference at first. I am not a big Saturday Night Live fan but once I watched the video I totally understood the reference and the relevance to pop culture of the phrase that appears on this SNL coffee mug.
It turns out that I Gotta Have More Cowbell was coined from a Saturday Night Live comedy sketch that fictionalized the recording of the song (Don't Fear) The Reaper by Blue Oyster Cult. The sketch included Christopher Walken, Will Ferrell, Chris Parnell, Jimmy Fallon, Chris Kattan and Horatio Sanz and is considered by many to be one of the best SNL sketches ever.
The mug is an attractive mug that features a brown and orange image and reads, as per the sketch, "
